CA SEAL OF BILITERACY

The State Seal of Biliteracy, AB815, was signed by the governor and enacted into California Education Code on October 8, 2011, and amended by AB1142 in 2017. The California State Seal of Biliteracy CDE (SBB), marked by a gold seal affixed on the diploma and noted on the transcript, recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages in addition to English. Students received a gold embossed seal from the State of California which is affixed on their diploma promoting they are fluent in at least two languages. There is no cost for the SBB.
